Hackers have seized access to dozens of US Treasury e-mail accounts and hacked into the systems of the department’s leading department in recent cyber attacks. The Wall Street Journal writes about this, referring to the Senator of the Finance Committee Ron Wyden.
The legislator did not say whether the cyberattack affected the head of the Ministry of Finance Steven Mnuchin and his closest advisers. According to him, the hacking of email accounts was reported by Microsoft, which is investigating the cyberattack.
Weiden emphasized that the Treasury Department still does not know which data was stolen. As noted, it is unlikely that the US IRS was hacked during the attack.
