Search work at the site of an avalanche in Norilsk completed

The search work at the avalanche site at the Otdelnaya Mountain ski base has been completed. This was announced on Saturday, January 9, by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The avalanche descended on the night of January 9 (in the evening of January 8 in Moscow) and covered an area of ​​500-600 sq. m., the thickness of the snow cover was 3 meters, specified in TASS.

Two people managed to escape – a teenager who was taken to intensive care in a serious condition, and another person who got out on his own and called rescuers. The latter did not require hospitalization, and medical assistance was provided to him at the scene.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, six houses were found under the snow mass. More than 240 people and almost 30 units of special equipment were involved in search and rescue operations.

As a result of the emergency, three people died, including a man, a 38-year-old woman and her one and a half year old son. Earlier it was reported that only a 14-year-old boy was found alive.

Earlier it became known that the family of businessman Vladimir Popov was under the snow debris – only four people, including his wife and two children. The surviving teenager is the eldest son of an entrepreneur.

After the incident, the investigators opened a criminal case under the article “Providing services that do not meet safety requirements.” The prosecutor’s office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in turn, began checking after the avalanche.
