According to The Art Newspaper, Professor Laura Fuster-Lopez said that the research project “ProMeSa”, launched in 2017 by the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, revealed the reason for the very rapid aging of one painting from a series of paintings that Picasso created in just a few months in 1917 year.

It is about the painting “Hombre sentado” (“Seated Man”).

“Scientists used chemical analysis and non-invasive methods to study different layers of paint and soil. It was found that ‘Hombre sentado’ was painted on canvas with a tighter weave and a thicker layer of animal soil than other paintings,” the study said.
