The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched a pre-trial investigation against officials of the Donetskoblgaz company, who are suspected of involvement in the shutdown of boiler houses in the Donetsk region. This follows from a message published on the special services website on Friday, March 12.

At the same time, the actions of the company’s management are regarded as “sabotage”, which led to the shutdown of 58 boiler houses of the regional utility company in the area of the military operation.

“At present, investigative (search) actions are being carried out aimed at identifying the persons involved in the commission of the crime and bringing them to justice,” the message says.

The SBU found that the assets of Donetskoblgaz belong to foreign offshore companies controlled by a citizen of Ukraine. According to the intelligence service, he is now on the territory of Russia.

On the eve of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov announced the possibility of returning to state ownership of the company “Donetskoblgaz”, which turned off the supply of heat to residents of the Donetsk region.

He specified that the owners of Donetskoblgaz are two companies registered in Hong Kong. They are planning to organize a check on these organizations. According to Danilov, if certain violations are revealed in its process, Donetskoblgaz will return to the state sphere of government.

On October 15 last year, Naftogaz Ukrainy reported that the start of the heating season in the country almost failed in 45 settlements due to debts of heat power enterprises to the holding. The lowest rates of settlements for consumed natural gas were also observed in the Donetsk region – 86%.
