Russian woman Bogdana Osipova, who was released from an American prison after serving a three-year sentence on charges of kidnapping her own child and taking it out of the country, thanked all those who supported her and provided assistance during the trial and imprisonment.

According to her, she will be able to feel complete freedom only after returning to Russia to her children. She thanked the Foreign Ministry, the official representative of the Russian department Maria Zakharova, the ombudsman for human rights Tatyana Moskalkova, the Russian embassy in the United States, the Russian ambassador to the States Anatoly Antonov and other political and public figures, media representatives.

“I thank each and every one for participating in this difficult situation that happened to me, my children, family and friends. You are forever in my heart, ”she said in a letter, a copy of which was at the disposal of TASS.

Bogdana Osipova has both Russian and American citizenship. In 2014, a woman separated from her American husband and took her one-year-old daughter to Russia. In the United States, the child was put on the wanted list.

In the Russian Federation, she filed a lawsuit to determine the place of residence of two children from a marriage with an American, as a result of which the court decided to leave underage children to the Russian woman and determined their place of residence in Russia. Three years later, Osipova went to the United States and was detained on charges of kidnapping her own child. In 2020, she was sentenced to seven years in prison, but taking into account the time spent in custody while awaiting sentencing, the sentence was reduced to five years.

However, on November 9, the appellate court demanded the release of the Russian woman immediately, and on November 11, the Russian embassy in Washington announced the release of Osipova. At the same time, the woman’s ex-husband offered to share custody of the children, but Osipova refused. Now the children live under the care of her aunt in Kaliningrad.
