Russia and Belarus will restore transport links to the level of 2019

Russia plans to restore rail and air links with Belarus to the level that was recorded before the start of the pandemic. This was announced on Friday, April 16, by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

“We are restoring transport links, in particular, on April 30 the project“ Swallows ”Moscow-Minsk will be implemented. And we are generally going to restore the railway communication in the near future, ”Mishustin said during negotiations in Minsk with his Belarusian counterpart Roman Golovchenko.

He added that air traffic will also be restored to the dock level of traffic. According to the head of the Russian government, during his visit to Minsk, an agreement on airworthiness will be signed between the aviation authorities of the two countries. Mishustin stressed that it will simplify the procedure for approving Russian civil aviation equipment supplied to Belarus.

The decision to resume passenger rail links between Russia and Belarus was made by the government of the Russian Federation on February 3. It was reported about the resumption of train traffic from Minsk to Moscow and vice versa, as well as on the routes Moscow – Kaliningrad, Kaliningrad – St. Petersburg with a train stop in the capital of Belarus.

Railway passenger traffic between Belarus and Russia was suspended in April 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order to renew it from February 8.

Direct flights between the countries were resumed on September 21, 2020.
