The Moscow Rospotrebnadzor called on believers in the capital – especially those who are 65 years old and over – to celebrate Easter at home or in the fresh air. The department attributed the recommendation to the high risk of the spread of COVID-19.

It is also noted that it is mandatory for clergy to wear masks “in close contact with believers,” and the requirement for social distance remains.

It is indicated that earlier Rospotrebnadzor sent proposals on additional sanitary measures to the heads of religious confessions. Officials suggested limiting the number of parishioners in churches, organizing video broadcasting of church services, taking measures to decontaminate indoor air and providing antiseptics, as well as conducting explanatory work with believers.

In addition, Rospotrebnadzor called on citizens to limit attendance at public events during the May holidays.
