Rospotrebnadzor has approved new sanitary and epidemiological requirements for the working conditions of shops and markets selling food products. The corresponding decree of the chief sanitary doctor of Russia Anna Popova was published on December 21 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

In accordance with the document, a ban is introduced on the sale of expired products, as well as goods for which there are no documents establishing compliance with the declared manufacturer.

The ban covers leaking, deformed cans, products in containers that have “signs of bombing and microbiological deterioration,” greened potato tubers, re-defrosted and frozen products, eggs with contaminated shells, including duck and goose eggs.

The changes take effect from January 1, 2021 and will be valid until January 1, 2027.

According to a survey of the Hi-chef culinary service, 36% of Russians are sure that sellers in domestic markets do not comply with sanitary standards, and 29% do not trust the quality of local products.

In October, it became known that in Moscow over a week the activities of over 30 trading enterprises were suspended for violation of sanitary standards, including those that were established in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection.
