Rospatent lists the most important developments in Russia to combat COVID

Rospatent listed the most important developments and inventions of the Russian Federation for the fight against coronavirus, which were registered a year since the beginning of the pandemic. On Monday, April 26, RIA Novosti was informed about it in the department.

“Experts from the Federal Institute of Industrial Property have selected patents for inventions and utility models that have had a significant impact on the fight against COVID-19. The list of patents is formed in chronological order, ”Rospatent noted.

In particular, on March 27, 2020, scientists from Astrakhan applied for registration of a test system to detect infection. In April, the Gamaleya Center applied for the registration of the country’s and the world’s first coronavirus vaccine, which resulted in seven patents being issued, including for Sputnik V.

In early May, the Himrar company decided to register the antiviral composition Avifavir, applications for new test systems for detecting coronaviruses were submitted by the Vector Center in June.

On July 1, the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and the Central Clinical Hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences filed an application for an invention that discloses a technology for determining the levels of antibodies in the serum, plasma or blood of patients. A week later, Vector filed an application for registration of a drug that blocks the spread of COVID-19.

In October, several developers decided to patent a robot that takes biomaterial for PCR research; in the late autumn, a drug was presented that can block infection and determine the S protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

In addition, patents were issued for the technology of using artificial intelligence that assesses the state of the lungs of patients with coronavirus, an application was filed for registration of a vaccine against the virus in the form of a spray and a technology for vaccinating elderly people with chronic diseases.

In March, the COVID-19 drug was introduced, which will come in the form of a nasal spray or inhalation liquid.

On April 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during the announcement of the annual message to the Federal Assembly, said that domestic scientists made a breakthrough in the pandemic by developing three reliable vaccines against coronavirus. He added that in the early days of the onset of the coronavirus infection pandemic in 2020, uncertainty remained, but soon millions of people across the country joined the fight.
