Roscosmos head Dmitry Rogozin said that he had tried to find an owner for the Burana stored at the Baikonur cosmodrome, but it turned out that the spacecraft “belongs to a private person from Kazakhstan.”

“It has not yet been possible to understand who is behind its owner,” Rogozin said on the social network, answering a question from a subscriber. “I tried to pick it up, buy it out …”

He added that the same situation has developed with the Energia-M rocket in the assembly and testing building.

As for the Buran, we are talking about the second copy of the ship, which by the time of the program’s closure had a high degree of readiness and was supposed to fly to the Mir station in 1991. The first Buran, which made a single flight in November 1988, was destroyed in 2002 when the roof of the assembly and test building collapsed. Three more ships were under construction at the beginning of the 90s and were subsequently destroyed.
