Nine roads are closed on Sakhalin due to heavy snow drifts. This was reported to REGNUM on Wednesday, February 17, at the regional department of the Ministry of Emergencies.

According to the ministry, all types of transport are not accessible for traffic due to heavy snow and poor visibility of the road: Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – Porechye, Porechye – Poronaysk, Smirnykh – Nogliki, Nogliki – Okha, Listvenichnoye – Okhotskoe – Malkovo, Tomari – Krasnopolye, Arsentievka – Ilyinskoe, Tymovskoe – Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinsky closed the Chekhov – Tomari road on the morning of February 17, the website kp.ru writes.

It is noted that the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – Kholmsk highway is open for passenger buses.

On the indicated roads, heating points are equipped and traffic police posts are set up. If necessary, all interested drivers and passengers can stay at temporary accommodation points.

On Tuesday evening, February 16, they organized the movement of car convoys on the highway between Dolinsk and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. KamAZ EMERCOM of Russia escorted 33 vehicles towards the island capital, in the opposite direction – 41 vehicles.

The regional head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations recommends that drivers refrain from traveling in these directions and plan a route in advance, taking into account weather conditions.

On the same day, it was reported that due to a cyclone on Sakhalin, the departure of a number of flights was postponed, the ferry crossing was closed, writes RT. In addition, intercity trains and buses were canceled, 360 TV channel reports. Schoolchildren were transferred to distance learning, writes the TV channel “Zvezda”. An avalanche hazard regime has been declared in the region.
