Rescuers EMERCOM of Russia will continue to work in Beirut until August 15

The group of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, which is liquidating the consequences of the explosion in Beirut, plans to work there until August 15 inclusive. This is reported by TASS with reference to the head of the department’s operational group in Lebanon, Sergei Vorontsov.

“We plan to continue working until Saturday inclusive. On Saturday, a meeting of the operational headquarters for the rescue operations will be held, ”he said.

On August 10, the Russian Emergencies Ministry announced that eight dead people had been removed from the rubble after the explosion in Beirut.

On August 9, Russian rescuers completed search work at the explosion site in Beirut. Representatives of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense have officially announced that they no longer hope to find living people under the rubble.

The Russian Centrospas team arrived in Beirut on 5 August. Specialists deployed a mobile hospital and provided assistance to the victims. During the first two days of work, Russian doctors received more than 90 people, including 12 children.

The explosion in the port of Beirut occurred on 4 August. As a result, more than 150 people died, and over 6 thousand were injured of varying severity. Fire of 2.7 tons of ammonium nitrate during welding was named as a preliminary cause of the incident.
