The representative of the ruling Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) of Montenegro, Milena Orlandic, tried to destroy the coupon from the ballot during a check at a polling station in Podgorica. On Wednesday, September 2, reports the Viesti portal.
Voting in Montenegro is organized in such a way that a small coupon containing the number of the ballot is torn off from each ballot before dropping it into the ballot box. When summing up, the number of issues and ballots must match.
According to journalists, on Wednesday, a traffic police commission arrived at polling station number 63 to check, during which Orlandich hid coupons from ballots.
This, in turn, was noticed by Nikola Terzic, a member of the election commission from the opposition URA party, who announced to those present that he had seen a violation. Orlandich hid one coupon under a chair and stepped on the second.
“After that, the election commission immediately stopped the process of verification by representatives of the traffic police, the members of the commission wrote a statement to the police,” the protocol says.
The Central Election Commission of Montenegro on August 31 summed up the results of the parliamentary elections. The Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro won this vote, but did not receive the majority of seats in the country’s parliament.
