The overhaul of the Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge in Moscow will be completed ahead of schedule – in August 2021, said the deputy mayor of the capital in the Moscow government, Pyotr Biryukov.

“Bolshoi Kamenny Bridge is one of the key transport routes of the capital, so we have done everything to carry out the overhaul of the structure as quickly as possible,” noted Pyotr Biryukov. “The reconstruction of the bridge is carried out around the clock, even in severe frosts, the work did not stop.”

This will allow the facility to be completed in August, although the completion of the renovation was originally planned for the IV quarter of this year, he stressed.

“In fact, in a year we will completely rebuild the bridge, update all the main structures, concrete base, road surface, carry out a large-scale restoration of granite cladding and cast-iron fencing elements,” said Pyotr Biryukov. “At the same time, the bridge continues to function and at no stage of work has it been completely closed and will not be closed.”

The Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge was repaired in a similar way, he added.

Bolshoi Kamenny Bridge has not been repaired since its construction in 1938. The reconstruction will increase the bearing capacity of the structure, which will significantly increase the service life and increase the overhaul period, noted Pyotr Biryukov.
