Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, April 23, signed a decree according to which the rest period for the May holidays will last from May 1 to May 10 inclusive. The corresponding document was published on the same day on the Kremlin website.

“Establish non-working days from May 4 to May 7, 2021 inclusive, with salary retention for employees,” the decree of the head of state says.

It is noted that the authorities and organizations have been instructed to “determine the number of employees and workers providing the functioning of these structures from 1 to 10 May 2021 inclusively.”

A similar document, as emphasized in the decree, was adopted “in order to maintain the trend of reducing the spread of the new coronavirus infection”, as well as to improve the health of Russians.

In turn, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov explained that this measure is not related to the introduction of a lockdown in the country, writes Gazeta.ru.

Also on April 23, Oleg Shein, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, positively assessed this decision. He stressed that such an order “corresponds to public culture.”

A day earlier, on April 22, the head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov recalled that the authorities have the right to postpone days off in order to make their duration convenient for citizens.
