Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the importance of ensuring employment and incomes for Russians in a pandemic. He announced this on Wednesday, October 21, at a meeting with members of the board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).
“Now, when business ties and the rhythm of work of enterprises are being tested, it is especially important to provide employment, incomes for our citizens, protect the well-being of Russian families and their confidence in the future,” the Russian leader said.
The President stressed that during the difficult stage of the fight against coronavirus, joint actions of the state, business, public organizations and citizens are extremely important.
“The focus of attention, I want to emphasize, is the protection of human life and health. This is the key message behind which the work is organized during the epidemic, ”Putin said.
Putin recalled that Russia has already gained experience in supporting the largest enterprises, key sectors of the economy, and the authorities launched these mechanisms for supporting business and labor collectives in the spring “in direct dialogue” with entrepreneurs and leading business associations, including the RUIE.
Earlier on October 21, the Ministry of Labor allocated more than 180 billion rubles to support unemployed Russians. According to the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Russia Anton Kotyakov, the number of those registered with the employment services is gradually decreasing and, compared with the peak period, the number of unemployed citizens registered with the employment services has decreased by more than 100 thousand people.
At the end of September, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that the problem of rising unemployment would be tackled in 2021. The head of state noted that unemployment should not exceed 4.7% among the economically active population.
