Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov said that Ukraine has no independent foreign policy and sovereignty, which, in his opinion, is due to the country’s history. He expressed this point of view on Tuesday, May 4, in his Telegram channel.

According to Pushkov, in Ukraine, “no matter how many people invent a“ great ”story for themselves,” there is no elite capable of independent thinking and behavior.

“Ukraine does not and cannot have an independent foreign policy, as well as sovereignty: historically, this territory has always looked for external patrons and depended on someone – from Russia, Sweden, Poland, Austria-Hungary, Germany,” the senator wrote.

He added that in the Ukrainian government there are only “people who happen to be who are desperately looking for their patrons and financial donors.” Pushkov noted that for 30 years of its formally independent existence, Ukraine has not managed to cope with the problem of the lack of historical statehood.

Pushkov stressed that the only possible form of existence for modern Ukraine is “unequivocal dependence on the West.”

Earlier, on May 1, Pushkov pointed out the double standards of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy towards the Nazis.
