Pskov industrialist, general director of the NPN holding Igor Savitsky called the reduction in the number of deputies to the regional assembly “a step towards democracy.” Such an assessment of the decision taken by the people’s parliamentarians today, September 19, he gave in an interview with the correspondent of the radio station “Echo of Moscow” in Pskov.
“Recently, the regional assembly rarely pleases us with such good, joyful decisions,” Igor Savitsky said, and then noted that there was practically no benefit to the region from a large number of deputies. They were “a mass from which it is impossible to achieve a positive solution to problems.”
In addition to the efficiency that such a decision will allow to achieve, the Pskov industrialist named another plus of reducing the number of deputies – budget savings and, as a result, an increase in the status of a deputy.
“Deputies should be elected only from the constituency, and not according to party lists,” concluded Igor Savitsky.
