Rospotrebnadzor expects a seasonal rise in the incidence of respiratory infections, including the new coronavirus, by the fall. This was announced on Thursday, April 29, by the head of the department Anna Popova.

“By the fall, we quite reasonably expect a certain dynamics of the seasonal growth of all viral respiratory infections and, most likely, a new coronavirus disease, a dangerous disease,” she said on the air of the Russia-1 TV channel.

Popopa pointed out the importance of complying with all sanitary and epidemiological requirements, and also stressed that vaccination against coronavirus is the only way to protect yourself and your health.

Earlier that day, the head of the department called on the Russians to spend the May holidays with their families. According to her, it is important that citizens spend the coming weekend with their loved ones separately, better in the fresh air. If this is done, then in 10-14 days a further decrease in the incidence of COVID-19 will continue, she said.

On April 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported Popova’s idea of making the May holidays continuous due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So, the days from 1 to 10 May were declared non-working.

On April 21, the head of state called on citizens to be vaccinated against coronavirus. Putin also pointed out that all Russians should have the opportunity to get vaccinated in order for herd immunity from coronavirus to be formed in the fall.

Large-scale vaccination against COVID-19 has been taking place in Russia since January 18. The vaccination is given free of charge to everyone. At the moment, three vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, EpiVacCorona and KoviVac. As noted in the Ministry of Health, the activity of vaccination against coronavirus infection in Russia is high.
