Darya Kislitsyna, Director of the Department of Regional Programs of the Expert Institute for Social Research (EISS), commented to Izvestia on the meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights (HRC), held on Thursday, December 10.

“The meeting of the HRC is an important and significant event both from the point of view of interaction between civil society and the authorities, and from the point of view of discussing the most pressing issues and solving problems that concern or may affect every citizen of the country,” the political scientist said.

During the pandemic, the HRC, in particular, opened a hotline for legal advice on new measures taken by the president and the government in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection, and secured free parking for doctors in Moscow, Kislitsyna said.

She noted that the chairman of the Council Valery Fadeev at the meeting raised an important topic – distance learning and related problems.

“EISS constantly monitors effective regional solutions in this area. Indeed, the question is complex and complex. There is both a problem with the technical component, and there is a lack of readiness of teachers and schoolchildren themselves for online education, ”said the director of the EISI department.

The UN Human Rights Council (HRC) was established in March 2006. The term of office of each member is three years, and none of them may serve for more than two consecutive terms.

According to the results of the vote in 2016, Russia was not included in the body. Prior to that, the country was a member of the council from early 2014 to late 2016.
