Russia’s Alexandra Trusova, bronze medalist of the World and European Figure Skating Championships, has left the training group of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko. Plushenko himself announced this on Saturday, May 1.

“With the wonderful Sasha Trusova, we went through a very fruitful season, won two stages of the Russian Cup, bronze in the Russian and world championships. It was a difficult season for all of us. On May 1, our contract ended, and by mutual desire of the parties, we did not renew it, ”he wrote on his Instagram page.

Plushenko noted that a promising future awaits the athlete.

“Where she returns, she goes by numerous invitations and without a probationary period, and in the status of one of the strongest single girls in the world!” He said.

The athlete wished Trusova success in her future career, noting that he was ending cooperation with her on a friendly note.

“Alexandra is leaving us on a white horse with a bronze medal of the World Championship around her neck and with a decent account on her bank card, as well as with an arsenal of five quadruple jumps restored after the pandemic,” the skater emphasized.

According to Plushenko, according to the terms of the agreement with the athlete, he cannot announce the reason for this decision.

Earlier, on April 1, it was reported that Trusova wants to return to the group of coach Eteri Tutberidze. Then the director of the Sambo-70 school, Renat Laishev, noted that the athlete was thinking about the transition, she had a great desire. Tutberidze herself did not confirm these words, saying that Laishev could not have such information. Plushenko called the information about the skater’s possible departure an April Fool’s joke.

Trusova moved from Tutberidze to the Angela Plushenko Academy in May 2020. At the end of March, she won bronze at the World Championships in Stockholm. During the performance of the free program, Trusova fell on the quadruple salchow and lutz and, with an error, performed a cascade with a quadruple toe loop.

Tutberidze’s student Anna Shcherbakova won the gold medal, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva won the silver medal (coach Alexei Mishin). Thus, Russian athletes took the entire podium at the championship. However, Trusova herself was unhappy with her performances at the tournament.
