US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed concern that “unstable” President Donald Trump could launch hostilities or “order a nuclear strike.”
Pelosi said she has already had a conversation about taking the necessary measures to contain Trump with the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milli.
“This morning, I spoke with Millie about the precautions available to prevent an unstable president from initiating hostilities or ordering a nuclear strike after receiving launch codes,” the CNN spokesman quotes.
She once again noted that if Trump does not leave the presidency on his own, Congress will take action and implement the 25th amendment, which provides for the transfer of power due to the death or inability of the head of state to fulfill his duties.
According to the TV channel, more than 200 lawmakers have already spoken out in favor of Trump’s removal. Calls for impeachment came after supporters of the incumbent president stormed the Capitol, where Congress tried to confirm Joe Biden as president-elect.
