Lawyer Elman Pashayev, representing the interests of the actor Mikhail Efremov, challenged the judge in the case of a fatal accident involving the artist Elena Abramova because of her “interest”. This was announced on August 21 by the Izvestia correspondent.
According to Pashayev, despite requests not to schedule meetings for certain dates due to the fact that he is busy in other processes, the court ignores these requests. He also noted that the judge each time allows the prosecutor to ask questions, while the questions of the lawyer Abramov removes.
“The court constantly refuses me. Biased attitude of the court and interest. I quote the words of Efremov: Elman, why do we go to court, this is an order, I’m not afraid of prison, ”he said.
Earlier, on July 27, the artist’s defender Elman Pashayev sent a petition to the court to postpone the preliminary hearing of the case. The lawyer explained his request by being busy in other processes, the dates for which had been set earlier.
The case of a fatal road accident involving Efremov is being considered by Judge Elena Abramova, who previously passed sentences in the cases of ex-Colonel Dmitry Zakharchenko, as well as football players Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev.
On June 8, in the center of Moscow, Efremov’s car drove into the oncoming lane and rammed Lada. Courier Sergei Zakharov, who was driving a domestic car, died in hospital from his injuries. The artist faces up to 12 years in prison, but Efremov does not admit his guilt in an accident. The examination established that at the time of the accident he was drunk.
