New York Rangers forward Artemy Panarin will miss the Ice Hockey World Championship in Latvia after being accused of beating a girl and due to a difficult season in the NHL.
“The probability of Panarin’s participation in the World Cup is zero. There are two main reasons: a difficult season in the NHL and the situation that has developed around the player after the scandalous statements of Andrei Nazarov,” a source familiar with the situation said.
Earlier, the former head coach of Vityaz, Andrei Nazarov, accused the hockey player of beating an 18-year-old girl. The incident took place in Riga in 2011. After this announcement, Panarin took a break and missed several Rangers matches.
The last time Panarin played for the Russian national team was in 2017.
