Moon Knight series cinematographer Gregory Middleton may have just confirmed that Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac will play Marvel’s main hero in the upcoming Disney Plus series.

“Well, the secret is out,” Middleton wrote in a recent Instagram post. “It’s an honor to be a part of introducing a new character to the MCU Moon Knight. Who says cinematographers worry about white costumes! Not if they are complex characters played by an amazing performer like Oscar Isaac.”

Isaac will most likely play the lead role of Moon Knight, or Marc Spector, the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhuman crimefighter and former mercenary/CIA agent who has multiple personalities and was granted powers from the Egyptian god Khonshu.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news about Isaac in an article Friday that announced Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead joining the series directors, along with the Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab

Diab is directing the bulk of episodes for the upcoming series, with Benson and Moorhead also directing. Umbrella Academy’s Jeremy Slater has been hired as the head writer.

Marvel’s Moon Knight series joins a number of other superhero series that will hit the Disney Plus streaming service in the near future.

WandaVision debuts on Jan. 15, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye following this year and possibly further out depending on whether production schedules are halted due to coronavirus concerns.

Moon Knight was first announced at D23 in August 2019. The show is expected to begin shooting in Budapest starting in March, but there’s no word yet when it will debut on Disney Plus.
