Orthodox believers today, May 2, celebrate the main holiday in the church calendar – Easter. In the churches of Novosibirsk, festive services are held, but which parishioners carry cakes, cottage cheese Easter and painted eggs.
Festive divine services in honor of Bright Sunday began on the night of May 1–2. Despite the late hour, hundreds of townspeople came to the temples. The Easter night service ended at about 4 am.
Due to the coronavirus, the entrance to the main temple of Novosibirsk – the Ascension Cathedral was limited. Those who did not get inside could watch the live broadcast of the service while standing near the cathedral. For this, large screens were specially installed the day before.

The Easter service was conducted by Metropolitan Nikodim of Novosibirsk and Berdsk. On the page of the Novosibirsk Metropolis on May 2, his video appeal and Easter greetings appeared.
It will be possible to consecrate Easter cakes in churches also in the afternoon on May 2. Now the Divine Liturgy is taking place there, and at 17:00 the Easter evening service will begin.
