The best performance of the year in the nomination “Operetta and Musical” was the rock musical “Foma” of the Novosibirsk Musical Theater.

The play can be called a biopic – it is built on the biography, and most importantly – the songs of the legend of the Soviet underground Yuri Shevchuk, the leader of the rock group DDT, although the author of the play, librettist Konstantin Rubinsky emphasized that the image of the main character, rock musician Foma, is collective. The premiere took place on the stage of the Novosibirsk Musical Theater in December 2019.

In addition to the main prize, Golden Masks were also awarded to two actors who played in this performance: Alexander Kryukov, for the role of Thomas (the main male role), Nikita Vorobyov, who played the role of Sasha, Thomas’s friend (male supporting role).

All in all, four “golden masks” will go to Novosibirsk: one more award (for the dramatic male role in the supporting role) in the hands of Timofey Mamlin. His role in the “Idiot” of the “Old House” theater was noted: in it he played the role of Ippolit Terentyev.
