The New York District Attorney has requested data on tax deductions from former US President Donald Trump. This was reported on February 20 by Reuters.

It is clarified that Attorney Cyrus Vance sent a subpoena to the New York Tax Office demanding the provision of documents regarding Trump and his Trump Organization. It is noted that Vance requested data in connection with a criminal investigation.

The investigation is trying to find out whether the companies of the ex-president of the United States tried to artificially inflate the value of their assets in order to obtain loans on favorable terms. In addition, the issue of underestimating the same indicators to reduce the size of tax deductions is being considered.

A similar investigation against Donald Trump is also being conducted by New York State Attorney General Laetitia James.

On February 14 this year, The Wall Street Journal reported that the New York prosecutor’s office has expanded its investigation into the financial activities of the former US president in connection with real estate transactions in Manhattan.

According to the publication, the authorities are interested in loans that Trump received from several subsidiaries of Ladder Capital, a mortgage company, for a total of about $ 280 million.

At the end of September 2020, The New York Times, citing tax returns, wrote that Donald Trump had not paid federal income tax in 10 years. According to the publication, the American leader in 2016, when he became president, paid only $ 750 in income tax and the same amount in 2017.
