When meeting with hedgehogs living in the capital’s parks, you should not take animals in your arms. Specialists from Mospriroda warned guests and residents of Moscow about this, according to the website of the government of the Russian capital.
In 2020, hedgehogs were seen in the natural and historical parks “Izmailovo”, “Kosinsky”, “Bitsevsky Les”, “Tsaritsyno”, “Tushinsky”, “Kuzminki-Lyublino”, as well as in Kuskovo, the Nature Reserve “Valley of the Setun River”, Landscape reserve “Lianozovsky”, Complex reserve “Altufevsky” and Kryukovsky forest park, the report says.
“If the animal is not injured and obviously does not need help, it should not be taken home. A wild hedgehog is a noisy nocturnal animal that can gnaw through wires, “Mosprirod notes.
It is not worth taking a hedgehog in your hands, since between the needles the animal may have ticks and other parasites.
In summer, hedgehogs do not need feeding; in the cold season, hedgehogs can be given soft food for cats and turn to specialists. Milk is harmful for adult hedgehogs, contrary to popular belief, experts added.
As reported in July, wild boars will not attack humans for no reason, so you should freeze when meeting an animal. In case of danger, animals can be extremely aggressive.
