The driver in St. Petersburg knocked down a traffic police inspector and, holding his hand with glass, dragged about 700 meters. According to the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the man was in a state of drug intoxication.
According to police, the incident took place on Saturday, August 15, at about 05:30 am on the embankment of the Obvodny Canal in the Admiralteisky district of the city.
A traffic police outfit stopped a BMW 730 car. The police found out that the numbers on the foreign car were archived. At that moment, when they were checking the documents of the 39-year-old driver, the passenger moved to the driver’s seat and started the car. The police lieutenant tried to stop him.
“However, the malefactor ran over him, dragged him, holding the policeman’s hand with the glass of the driver’s door, about 700 m, and then fled from the scene,” the message says.
The inspector required medical attention. It is noted that he is now in a satisfactory condition.
Later, the attacker was detained, he turned out to be a 36-year-old native of the Arkhangelsk region, previously convicted of deliberately causing grievous bodily harm, resulting in death, according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The driver of a foreign car was also convicted, including for drug trafficking.
