In Russia, a face recognition system is gradually being introduced, which is already working in Moscow. According to Kommersant, a partner company with the Moscow Department of Information Technologies is launching pilot projects in ten regional centers. For example, 3,000 cameras with a face recognition system will be installed in Nizhny Novgorod. With their help, the authorities will search for criminals and fine quarantine violators.
Experts explained to the publication that it is not yet possible to deploy such a system throughout the country, since many regions are not ready to spend money on this, and there will not be enough money from the federal budget for everyone. The cost of creating a video surveillance system in a large city on average is about 100-110 million rubles.
