On March 11, the political party “OURS” held a press conference in front of the Presidential Administration, dedicated to the amendment of the electoral legislation in order to conduct voting in elections exclusively on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

Party activist, student Adelina Castravets stressed that many people have a question whether it is fair for citizens who left in search of a better life to take part in the electoral processes in the Republic of Moldova.

At the same time, the activist noted that some of the migrant workers lost reality with the events taking place at home. And the diaspora is informed by the media, existing on grants and promoting “Western values”.

The stake on diaspora voting is a selective admission of those who “understand that they have weak support within the country,” says Adelina Kastravets.

Adeline Kastravets considers a particularly alarming symptom that “the candidates began to divide citizens abroad into friends and foes,” as Maia Sandu, Renato Usatii, Tudor Deliu, Dorin Chirtoaca do, who opposed a large number of polling stations in Russia, while the same time, demanding an increase in the number of polling stations in Europe.

As a guideline, Adelina Kastravets suggested “to take an example from such countries as Armenia, Israel, Ireland. These countries are similar to ours … they have a large diaspora abroad, the ratio of the territories of the countries is approximately the same, internal problems are also similar. In Armenia, voting abroad was canceled in 2007. In Ireland and Israel, the only people allowed to vote abroad are members of the diplomatic corps and the military. ”

The worse the citizens living in Moldova are, asks Kastravets. Is it honest that people who have left and are not going to return decide the fate of the country? Do they know so well what is happening in our country, asks the representative of the “OURS” party.

“Our team will promote a radical position – Come! Vote! Live! Our country needs reforms in the electoral law. It is necessary to prohibit plots abroad, and to install them only on the territory of Moldova. In this way, the state will be able to control the electoral process, and citizens will be able to feel the consequences of their choice, ”concluded Adelina Kastravets.
