The only exceptions will be signs in case of emergencies and accidents.

The government commission approved the draft law, according to which the authorities of all levels must coordinate the installation of road signs, markings, traffic lights and cameras with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Amendments will be made to the law “On the organization of road traffic”. They were prepared by the Ministry of Transport back in 2020.

According to Kommersant, one of the key changes will be the organization of road traffic (PAD; schemes for placing signs, markings, traffic lights, cameras on the roads). The final decisions on these issues will be transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs – the traffic police. This procedure was excluded from the authority of the department in 2013.

In practice, there will be two types of cases. The first is when there is no need to agree on the PAD: emergency recovery work after an emergency or accidents. Restrictions of movement in such cases should be no more than a day. This also includes signs about new paid parking lots. Now the authorities must warn about innovations no later than 30 days in “periodicals” and on the websites of the authorities. The bill proposes to limit the placement of information on the Web.
