Ministry of Emergency Situations launched a multimedia project “Memory Book” about the dead fire fighters

In memory of the fire-fighters killed in the line of duty, the Russian Emergencies Ministry is launching a multimedia project “Memory Book”. The press service of the department reported this on April 30, the Day of Fire Protection.

The project’s website contains unique archival materials collected to preserve and perpetuate the memory of the Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of the Russian Federation, EMERCOM employees who saved others at the cost of their lives.

To date, the “Book of Memory” contains 457 heroic stories of firefighters and rescuers, materials about 243 memorial plaques, 133 monuments and 118 museum formations of the department.

The information collected is posted for the period from 1990 to 2020, sorted in alphabetical and chronological order. The ministry noted that the work on the collection of materials continues.

The site also presents stories about emergencies and incidents, describes the exploits of firefighters, rescuers and mine rescuers. The stories are supplemented with biographies of employees, stories about their merits and awards, memories of colleagues and witnesses.

Those interested will be able to familiarize themselves with the texts of poems and songs dedicated to the memory of the EMERCOM employees of Russia. At the same time, the authors of the project plan to develop a section dedicated to significant events and rescue operations in the history of the Ministry of Emergencies.

The department noted that users can use the search by the names of the heroes and employees of the department, as well as study the list of locations of memorial plaques, monuments and museums, which is implemented with reference to geolocation.

The multimedia project “Book of Memory” is already available for users and adapted for various platforms and screen resolutions. In addition, a printed version is ready for release.

Every year on April 30, Russia celebrates the Day of Fire Protection. This year the service turns 372 years old.
