A short radical quarantine with uniform restrictive measures across the country – these are the requirements of Chancellor Angela Merkel, said the spokeswoman for the politician Ulrike Demmer at a federal press conference. “Therefore, all the requirements for the introduction of a short quarantine with equivalent rules throughout the country are absolutely correct,” said Demmer.
The number of people infected in the country due to Easter holidays is currently unreliable. Fewer tests were run on holidays. Not all data was collected and transmitted to the Robert Koch Institute. However, the skyrocketing number of ICU beds in the country’s hospitals speaks for itself. “We need a stable incidence rate below 100,” added Demmer, referring to the number of infected people in the country for seven days per 100,000 people.
There are no plans to postpone the conference of prime ministers and the federal government, scheduled for April 12, to an earlier date. Armin Lashet’s proposal for an earlier convocation did not receive a majority of votes. But negotiations with the countries are underway. “Differences in rules from land to land are not conducive to their acceptance by the population,” the Chancellor’s spokesman summed up.
