On May 5, Kalmykia celebrates the Day of the Cryptographer. It was on this day in 1921 that a cryptographic service was created, which became necessary to encrypt secret data and to protect information in transit.

Cryptography literally translates as “cryptography”. But humanity has previously used the methods of hiding information available for its time. Of course, with the development of technology, there are many more encryption methods. The speed of message transmission has increased, and the need for encryption has become much greater.

During the Great Patriotic War, Soviet engineers made a breakthrough in data encryption. A huge amount of information over these 4 years was translated into special codes and systems in order to transmit secret messages that Nazi Germany could not declassify.

The development of Russian cryptography has a long history. Today, experts provide data encryption in a constantly evolving information space. Congratulations to the employees of the Cryptographic Service of Russia on their professional holiday!
