Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey announced that he is “seriously considering” running for governor of Texas. The elections will take place in a year.

The actor revealed his intentions in a recent episode of The Balanced Voice podcast on an episode of Crime Stoppers. He told host Rania Mankarius that running for governor was his “true consideration.” The actor thinks about his own destiny, and believes that this can be realized.

If McConaughey starts the governor’s campaign, he will face Greg Abbott, a Republican who is preparing for re-election. Incidentally, this isn’t the first time the 51-year-old Oscar winner has hinted at the idea. When radio host Hugh Hewitt asked in November 2020 if he would consider such an offer, he replied, “It will depend more on people than on me.” Then he called politics “a broken business” and said that it would generate more interest only when it “changed its purpose.”

McConaughey’s political affiliation is unknown, and many on the Internet speculate about whether he will run for Republicans or Democrats. While there is no clear indication of which side he is on, his past comments on hot issues such as gun violence, masks and the rejection of police funds may provide some clarity.

In October, McConaughey was invited to the popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, where he discussed topics such as Christianity in Hollywood and the refusal to fund the police. He said some Hollywood liberals went too far.

Discussing his religious affiliation, he said: “Some people in our industry, not all, there are some who are still going to the left … who are still going to the illiberal left. A world in need of the sympathy that liberals have … It is illegal to recognize them because they say they are believers, for me it is simply arrogant and in a sense hypocritical. “
