In the area of ​​the third cordon of the Mekenzievsky forestry, the sports orienteers of Crimea and Sevastopol competed for the prizes of the competition training “Cup of bastions”. The traditional meeting was organized at the initiative of the famous cartographer and judge of the All-Russian category Alexander Prokofiev.
He also drew a new sports map, set control points in the forest, performed the functions of the chief judge of the competition. About 130 people from 8 to 72 years old took part in the races. Among the younger students, Sev Fedorchenko, Daniil Shcheblykin, Viktor Zhurkov, Olga Doshchinskaya, Sofya Kryukova, Lyubov Filimonova distinguished themselves. Marta Logacheva and Bogdan Brusik were in the lead among senior schoolchildren. In the sports elite among 3 masters of sports and 6 candidates, Alexander Goncharuk and Daria Plotnikova showed the best time. The junior veterans in the MZh35 group were looking for 10 control points in the forest. The best results are with Alexander Permyakov and Maria Kravchuk. In the group over 45, Lyudmila Novikova and Alexander Brusik were in the lead. The first places in the MZh55 age category were taken by Alexander Matveyuk and Alexandra Bykodorova. The wisest among athletes over 65 were Tatyana Bashkina and Vasily Pidoprigora.
The competitive training took place in the upper reaches of the Martynovsky ravine, about which local historians report the following: “Martynovsky ravine is located on the administrative territory of the city of Inkerman between the Gaitan and Martynovskaya ravines. This name appeared after the Crimean War of 1854-1855. In the first half of the XIX century. in this gully was the Martynovka farm, which belonged to SF Martyn (Martin, Martyno), an English officer who switched to the Russian service in 1799. For a long time he lived in Sevastopol, commanded various auxiliary ships of the fleet assigned to the Sevastopol port. In 1851, the Naval Department bought Martynovka from the son of SF Martyno. The name of the farm remained, and the gully where it was located began to be called Martynovskaya. “
During the Great Patriotic War, fierce battles took place here. On these positions during the days of the defense of Sevastopol, the soldiers of the Chapayev division fought. Even today, the forest is completely cut by lines of trenches, craters from aerial bombs and large-caliber shells, crumbled by traces of dugouts and dugouts.

Sergey Ryzhikov confidently won gold in all four disciplines of the competition. His sister Ruslana took three gold medals. Olga Vedernikova, Valeria Doroshina and Alexey Mishchenko are among the top ten. In four days, Alexey took places close to the podium four times in one of the most difficult age groups. Immediately after Zheleznovodsk, the Crimeans performed well in Gelendzhik at the All-Russian competition “Black Sea – 2021”. Ruslana Ryzhikova took three gold medals, Sergei Ryzhikov – two gold and a silver, Alena Gerasimova – bronze. Valeria Doroshina, Anastasia Boyko, Tatyana Bashkina, Alisa Senko, Alexander Sheshukov, Igor Zaitsev, Bogdan Brusik entered the tens of the strongest in their age categories.
