On March 5, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports 10,580 cases of infection. This is slightly less than the previous day (11.912). 264 people have died as a result of coronavirus infection. The incidence rate for 7 days increased from 64.7 to 65.4. There are currently 2,813 patients in the intensive care unit. More than 4.5 million people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Germany.

In total, 2,482,522 cases of the virus have been identified in Germany since the start of the pandemic. Thus, in comparison with the previous day, the number of patients increased by 10,580 cases. A total of 71,504 people have died as a result of Covid 19 since the start of the pandemic.

The seven-day incidence for Germany is 65.4. This figure shows how many people per 100,000 inhabitants of the country have been infected in the past seven days. The recommended incidence rate is 50. However, these numbers are not scientifically calculated optimal indicators, but rather, benchmarks. They are essential for the effective operation of local health authorities. Up to 50 cases, the epidemiological situation is under control; the chain of infection of the infected can be traced.

According to the RKI, there are 119,000 active patients who are currently ill. This result can be obtained by subtracting the number of deaths from coronavirus (71,504), as well as those who recovered (2,292,100) from the number of ever infected residents of the country (2,478,522).

The goal set by the federal government by introducing a strict quarantine regime was to reach 50 infected per 100,000 people in a week. After the mutated strains began to spread, the border was lowered to 35 cases per 100,000 population. However, these numbers are not scientifically calculated optimal indicators, but rather benchmarks. They are essential for the effective operation of local health authorities. Up to 50 cases, the epidemiological situation is under control; you can trace the chain of infection of the infected.

The data is based on a statement by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), which receives information from the German regional health authorities. They provide updated information several times a day. As the reporting speed varies by region, there may be deviations and fixes as a result of late reporting. In addition, sometimes there are delays in displaying data for individual federal states.
