Louisiana: three people killed in shooting at gun store

Three people were killed and two others were injured in a shooting that erupted Saturday afternoon at a gun store in Metairie, near New Orleans, Louisiana.

Police were called into the Jefferson Gun Outlet shortly before 3 p.m., Jefferson Parish County Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said on Twitter.

When they arrived at the scene of the crime, they discovered several people with gunshot wounds. Three individuals were declared dead on the spot while two others were transported in stable condition to a hospital, we can read in the rest of the press release.

According to local authorities, the suspect shot two people inside the store, before continuing the shooting outside the compound.

The suspect is among those found lifeless, it was also said.

Several people believed to be customers and employees of the gun store were allegedly involved in the shooting, the sheriff said at a press conference reported by CNN.

The investigation was assigned to special agents of the New Orleans Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Explosives Guns.
