Yaroslavl “Lokomotiv” was credited with a technical defeat in the regular season match of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) against the Chinese “Kunlun”. The reason for this was the absence of the Russian team for the game. This was announced on Tuesday, September 22, on the KHL website.
The match was to take place on the same day at 19:00.
“The match between HC Kunlun Red Star (Beijing) and HC Lokomotiv (Yaroslavl), scheduled for 19:00 on September 22, will not take place due to the absence of the Yaroslavl team,” the league said in a statement. – In connection with the foregoing and in accordance with clause 15 of Article 29 of the Disciplinary Regulations, Lokomotiv was awarded a technical defeat. “
Previously, the game has already been postponed from September 21 to 22. All clubs in the league had to think over in advance the recruitment of teams in the context of coronavirus infection, and rescheduling of matches is an extreme measure, the KHL stressed.
Earlier on the same day, it became known that about 30 hockey players of Yaroslavl Lokomotiv had passed positive tests for coronavirus. In turn, the league stressed that they have discrepancies in the test results for COVID-19, which were carried out by the KHL laboratory and directly by the hockey club.
On September 20, a message appeared on the league’s website about the postponement of the match between Lokomotiv and Beijing Kunlun. Prior to that, the KHL had already postponed two away games of Lokomotiv due to coronavirus infections in the team – with Sochi (September 17) and Dynamo Minsk (September 19), writes Sport-Express.
