The United States uses any hacker attacks on its systems for political purposes, including anti-Russian ones. This was announced on Monday, December 14, by the head of the international committee of the Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev.
“Let me remind you that, according to independent experts, 28-30% of all hacker attacks on computer systems in Russia come from the US territory, while no more than 2-3% come from Russian territory on American computer systems. But even with such statistics, Russia is far from indiscriminately blaming the American authorities for any such attacks, although this, of course, has a place, “Kosachev was quoted as saying in RIA Novosti.
He stressed that the Russian side is in favor of bilateral expert consultations and multilateral agreements on cyber security, but the United States does not support the RF initiative.
“Apparently, they benefit from the current state of affairs – to freely engage in cyber espionage around the world, remember the WikiLeaks revelations, and at the same time use hacker attacks on their systems exclusively for political, in this case, anti-Russian purposes,” concluded Kosachev.
The day before, on December 13, the American media published information about the involvement of hackers allegedly connected with Russian intelligence in attacks on the systems of the United States Treasury and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).
The next day, December 14, the Russian Embassy in the United States condemned the reports of the American media about Russia’s involvement in cyber attacks. Russian diplomats stressed that Russia is promoting bilateral and multilateral agreements on cyber security.
