Ukraine has sent a letter to the UN Secretary General because of the Russian naval parade in Crimea in honor of the Navy Day, writes Ukrinform.

In a letter from the country’s permanent representative to the UN, Sergei Kislitsa, it is argued that Kiev regards the parade in “occupied” Sevastopol as “a violation of international law, including numerous resolutions of the UN General Assembly, as well as Ukrainian legislation.”

In this regard, Kiev called Russia’s actions “deliberate steps” causing an escalation of tension in Ukrainian-Russian relations.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, after the naval parade, handed a note of protest to the Russian Embassy.

Parades on the occasion of the Day of the Russian Navy on July 26 were held at seven main bases of the country, including in Sevastopol.
