The Japanese government intends to hold telephone talks between the country’s new Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced on Thursday during a press conference in Tokyo by the Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country Katsunobu Kato.
He noted that high-level telephone conversations had already taken place with the leaders of the USA, Australia, Great Britain and Germany.
Recall that the Japanese parliament on September 16 approved Suga as the new head of government. Previously, he was elected chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Before Suga, in the government of the retired prime minister Shinzo Abe, he invariably held the post of secretary general of the cabinet.
