At a meeting of the National Committee for Public Order and Security, the leadership of Italian law enforcement agencies decided to strengthen control over the situation on the country’s border. This was reported on November 3 by RIA Novosti.

Military personnel will be involved in strengthening control over the border. In addition, during the meeting, issues of ensuring internal security were considered, taking into account the arrival of illegal migrants in the country through the Mediterranean Sea.

In particular, the committee considered “the technical aspects of an operational plan to intensify cooperation aimed at countering organizations that smuggle people and irregular migration.” It is noted that this document requires agreement between the authorities of Italy and Tunisia.

On the eve, attacks with gunfire took place in six districts of Vienna, including the synagogue, which is located in the city center. As a result, according to media reports, five people were killed and 22 were injured. Later, the city authorities reported that one of the victims died in the hospital.

At night, November 3, information appeared that about seven criminals, who are suspected of attacking a number of objects in the center of Vienna, could be dispersed throughout the city.

The police managed to detain four terrorists on Graben Street in the center of the Austrian capital. Another of the attackers was eliminated. It turned out to be a 20-year-old young man previously convicted of trying to join the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in the Russian Federation), but released on parole. Later it became known about the detention of two more people in the case of the attack in Vienna, and then the detention in the city of Linz of a man suspected of involvement in the terrorist attack.

On the morning of October 29, a native of Tunisia, born in 1999, attacked people in the Notre Dame church with a knife. Three people were killed – two women and a 55-year-old church worker. The attacker himself was wounded during the arrest and was hospitalized.

According to the country’s anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office, the attacker arrived in France on October 9, with a Koran and two mobile phones, as well as a document from the Italian Red Cross, were found. It is also known that in September the man arrived in Italy, where he was a suspect in the case of organizing illegal migration.
