Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte proposed to parliament to extend the state of emergency imposed in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection. This was announced on Tuesday, July 28, by ANSA.
“Although the dynamics of the incidence has decreased, statistics indicate that the virus continues to circulate in our country,” the prime minister said.
According to him, the situation with the coronavirus in the world is of concern, especially in countries bordering Italy. At the same time, he urged not to dramatize the situation and not trust unverified information about the spread of the infection.
Government sources said that the emergency regime will be extended, probably until October 15.
Since March 10, Italy, which has become the epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic in Europe, has been quarantined. The authorities have banned any mass events and celebrations. Museums, cinemas, entertainment centers and theaters stopped working.
As part of the assistance, 15 Russian Il-76 aircraft with military virologists and epidemiologists, as well as special equipment on board, arrived in the country from March 23 to 25.
On May 4, in Italy, the situation with the spread of COVID-19 improved, and a phased removal of restrictions began in the republic.
On May 7, Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini thanked his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu for his timely assistance in the fight against the virus, and on May 15 the last group of Russian military specialists returned to their homeland.
