The President of Russia announced his decision to make all May holidays continuous. This became known on Friday, April 23rd.
Residents of the Volgograd region, together with the whole country, will rest all days from the beginning of next month until May 11. The initiative to make the days between holidays non-working was made by the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova during a meeting with the president. According to her, because of the broken vacations, citizens will have to use public transport more often, returning to the city and leaving again. This carries certain risks during a pandemic.
Head of State Vladimir Putin agreed with this position; today a corresponding decree will be signed to increase the number of holidays. Initially, it was assumed that the period from 4 to 7 May will be working.
Note that in the Volgograd region, Governor Andrei Bocharov instructed to strengthen security measures during the May holidays. A total of 800 different events are planned in the region.
