On Wednesday, August 12, at 2 pm, residents of a five-story building on Uritsky Street in Smolensk saw smoke from the window of a neighbor’s apartment on the third floor and urgently called the firefighters.
The firefighters were already in place in a few minutes, but in the apartment they had only to make sure that there was no threat of further fire and to calm down the frightened owner of the 2-room apartment.
It turned out that an elderly woman, doing household chores, took a solvent. With a bottle of flammable liquid, they approached the gas stove on. And then a fire broke out.
The flame began to spread throughout the room. Smolyanka ran to the bathroom for water and tried to put out the fire on her own. She did not allow more damage, but received a serious burn to her hand. The kitchen burned out on an area of five square meters.
