Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that will increase the fine for violations of the rules for crossing railways by five times. The corresponding document is published on the official portal of legal information.

According to the bill, administrative liability in the form of a fine is introduced for driving through an unregulated level crossing if a train is approaching the crossing within sight.

The amendments made to the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO) increase the fine five times, from 1 to 5 thousand rubles.

In addition, the project regulates the punishment for the forced disembarkation from public transport of a minor under the age of sixteen, who is unaccompanied by an adult. For such a violation, the driver can receive a fine of 5 thousand rubles. The fine for officials will be from 30 thousand rubles.

On April 15, it was reported that the Russian government proposes to increase the maximum prison sentence for systematic driving while intoxicated to three years. According to the proposed bill, the punishment will affect the increase in terms of imprisonment (up to three years) and correctional labor (up to two years), as well as the size of the fine. The document is planned to be considered at the plenary sessions of the State Duma in the first reading in the spring session.

Earlier, Anatoly Vyborny, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, proposed punishing persistent traffic offenders (SDA) in the event of an accident in the same way as drunk drivers. He said that if the driver has hundreds of traffic violations and he commits an accident, in which a person is seriously injured, then the punishment for him should be stricter.
