According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), over the past day in Germany, the number of newly infected people increased by 2,297, which is more than 380 cases more than in the previous day (1,916).
As of Saturday, September 19, 270,070 cases of infection have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the collection of official statistical information on coronavirus. The total number of deaths from Covid-19 to date is 9,384. The R value over 4 days is 1.16.
It is estimated that there are 20,886 active cases, that is, people currently infected. This figure is not officially recorded by the Robert Koch Institute. However, as in other countries, it is determined by subtracting the number of deaths (9,384) and the estimated 239,800 recovered from all ever infected.
According to the Intensive Care Register, 246 people are currently being treated for Covid-19 in intensive care units. This represents 0.77 percent of the more than 30,000 intensive care beds in Germany.
